Lamborghini Silhouette, the 2+0 targa successor to the 2+2 coupe Urraco, which were Bertone styled cousins-by-marriage (through Ghandini’s Bertone design house), to Ferrari 308 GT 4.
And all were completely decimated the title fighters, in this corner, Magnum PI’s trademark borrowed ride, Ferrari 308 GTS...
And in THIS corner, design trend-setter for all future Lamborghini, the Countach.
Lamborghini has never again designed a car that could even be mentally associated with the concept of conservative, subtle design like Jarama, Urraco, and Silhouette, let alone graceful and gorgeous , like Miura or 350/400.

Silhouette was the second Lambo I fell in love with, after my dad bought me a Testors model kit of one when I was nine.
I would watch our videotaped-off-of-HBO copy of Rocky IV and enjoy the scene when Rocky went for a late night drive, and argue with my friends at school about his Lambo. “Rocky didn’t have a Lamborghini! The doors don’t open the right way!” I knew better. Because I knew that Lambo also made the Silhouette, and I was sure that Rocky was washing that Silhouette in his driveway.
Lamborghini only made 52 Silhouettes. Rocky Balboa was not driving a Silhouette. He was driving the 80s-to-the-max Jalpa, which was Lambo’s reusing of the Silhouette dies and toolwork to make a “modern” car for the time.
Still love it, though. And honestly, if given the choice between the Silhouette and its successor, I’d probably choose the Jalpa, since I’d want to drive it. Eight times as many Jalpas were produced as Silhouettes, and fewer than 40 Silhouettes still survive, if I recall correctly. I could never take the Silhouette onto the street with any peace of mind.
The Countach will forever be my first love. But every Lambo is beautiful in its own way.
